MB 229.52 and 229.71 — Which Does Your C-Class Need?
Mercedes uses MB sheet numbers. Modern turbo petrol engines (M282 1.3, M254 2.0) are designed around 0W-20 MB 229.71 with tight bearing clearances. Diesels (OM654 2.0) use low-SAPS 5W-30 MB 229.52 to protect the DPF and the Nanoslide bore coating. Older engines used MB 229.5 / 229.51; the newer sheets are not always backward-compatible, so check the filler cap.
