  • Correction. This page previously published a single answer — type 027 EFB, 60 Ah, 640 CCA — for the whole Vitara range. That is right only for the 1.0 Boosterjet. It is the wrong case size for the 48V mild hybrid and the wrong technology for it too.
  • The 1.4 Boosterjet non-hybrid is unresolved. The catalogue lists both an 027 EFB group and a 063 flooded group against the same engine, without saying which build gets which. It is almost certainly a stop-start versus non-stop-start split, but nothing published establishes that. Measure the battery in the car before ordering.

Why the 48V mild hybrid takes a plain flooded battery. Across eleven listed products for the K14D, every one is conventional flooded and all are flagged as not stop-start compatible. The 48V integrated starter-generator performs the restarts and the 48V lithium pack absorbs the cycling, so the 12V battery is never on stop-start duty. Do not apply a blanket “mild hybrid means EFB” rule to this car.

Confidence in this data: High for the 1.4 48V mild hybrid and the 1.0 Boosterjet, where the fitment lists are complete and unambiguous. Medium for the 1.5 Dualjet Hybrid. Low for the 1.4 Boosterjet non-hybrid, because the list genuinely contains two incompatible case sizes with no published rule for choosing between them.

Upgrade option: Your Suzuki Vitara requires an EFB (type 027) as the minimum because it has stop-start — it is not optional. AGM is an optional further upgrade for heavy accessory loads such as dashcams.

The 1.4 Boosterjet 48V mild hybrid takes a 063 conventional flooded battery of 44 to 52 Ah in a 207 x 175 x 175 mm case. The 1.5 Dualjet Hybrid takes a 207 x 175 x 190 mm EFB or AGM of 50 to 55 Ah. The 1.4 Boosterjet non-hybrid is listed with two different case sizes and is not resolved.

Does the Vitara 48V mild hybrid need an EFB or AGM battery?

No, and this surprises people. Every one of the eleven products catalogued for the K14D 48V engine is a conventional flooded battery, and all are flagged as not stop-start compatible. The 48V integrated starter-generator does the restarting and the 48V lithium pack absorbs the cycling, so the 12V battery is not on stop-start duty. Fitting an EFB will do no harm, but it is not required and the case size is what matters more.

Will an 027 battery fit a Vitara 48V mild hybrid?

Not properly. The 48V car takes a 063 case at 207 x 175 x 175 mm; an 027 is 242 x 175 x 190 mm, which is 35 mm longer and 15 mm taller. Measure the battery in the car before ordering.

How long does a Suzuki Vitara battery last?
