What the OE fitment data lists for this car
| Engine | Batteries listed |
|---|---|
| Countryman C 1.5 (170 PS) | 012 AGM 50 Ah 540 A (207 x 175 x 190) – recommended |
| Countryman SE ALL4 (electric, 313 PS) | 012 AGM 50 Ah 540 A (207 x 175 x 190) – recommended, as the 12 V system battery |
| Countryman C 1.5 (156 PS), S ALL4, John Cooper Works, D, E | Not yet returned by the fitment tool for the U25. Given the two variants above, the same 012 AGM is the likely fitment, but this could not be confirmed – check by registration |
Source: published VARTA battery-finder fitment data (varta-automotive.com) for the MINI Countryman (U25, 2023 onwards), consulted August 2026. Coverage of the U25 in the public fitment tool is still incomplete: only two variants returned data. What it does return is consistent, and it is a much smaller battery than the previous F60 Countryman used. Where more than one battery is listed, the manufacturer fits different sizes across builds — measure the battery you remove, or confirm by registration, before ordering.
Confirmed for the Countryman C 170 PS and the SE ALL4. Other U25 variants are not yet covered by the public fitment data.

Frequently Asked Questions
What battery does a MINI Countryman need?
A type 012 AGM, 50 Ah and 540 A, measuring 207 x 175 x 190 mm. VARTA fitment data for the current Countryman (U25, 2023 onwards) returns that battery for the Countryman C 170 PS and for the electric SE ALL4. It is a noticeably smaller battery than the previous F60 Countryman used, so if your car is a pre-2023 model this figure does not apply. Coverage of the other U25 variants is still incomplete in the public data, so confirm yours by registration.
Does the MINI Countryman need an AGM or EFB battery?
AGM. Both U25 Countryman variants returned by VARTA are listed with an AGM battery. Replace AGM with AGM and have the new battery registered to the car through the power management system, otherwise the charging strategy keeps treating it as an old battery and it will fail early.
How long does a MINI Countryman battery last?
Typically 4–6 years depending on driving patterns. Short urban journeys and cold winters reduce battery life. Start-stop systems are harder on batteries, so quality AGM batteries are essential.
Can I replace the MINI Countryman battery myself?
Yes for most models — it’s usually located in the engine bay. However, start-stop vehicles may need the battery management system reset with a diagnostic tool after fitting.
How we check fitment for this guide
We cross-reference fitment figures against manufacturer specifications and OE-supplier catalogue data where available, and matched to the standard codes that actually govern fit — battery type/group sizes, wiper lengths and fitting types, bulb fitment codes, tyre size markings, and oil specifications. We work by make, model, year, engine, and build date, because a single model can take different parts across its life. Where the right part depends on your exact vehicle, we tell you to confirm by registration or VIN. More on our method →
