What You Can Still Replace Yourself

The Peugeot 2008 has LED headlights, so there is no dipped-beam bulb to change. Several other exterior lamps are still conventional bulbs, and those you can replace yourself:

What to Do If a Light Fails

There is no user-serviceable bulb in the Peugeot 2008 headlamp. If the dipped or main beam fails, the headlamp module is the part that gets replaced — a dealer or auto-electrical job.

The lamps you can change yourself are front indicator (PY21W). Those are ordinary bulbs and take ordinary tools.

MOT note: a failed headlight is an automatic MOT failure whether it is a bulb or an LED module, so it is worth diagnosing early rather than at the test.

LED Headlights and the MOT

The Peugeot 2008 came with LED headlights from the factory, so the usual “is an LED retrofit legal?” question does not apply — there is no halogen housing to retrofit into. The factory unit is type-approved as fitted.

What the MOT does check is that the lamps work, that beam pattern and aim are correct, and that lenses are not badly clouded. A partly failed LED array can still fail on beam pattern.

Frequently Asked Questions

What headlight bulb does a Peugeot 2008 use?

None. The Peugeot 2008 has LED headlights as standard across the UK range, so there is no replaceable headlight bulb. Eco LED on Active/Allure, Full LED with Smartbeam Assist from GT. A halogen version exists in mainland Europe (H18 dipped / H9 main) but no UK trim carries it. The only replaceable rear bulb is the rear fog, P21W.

Which bulbs can I still change on a Peugeot 2008?

Several exterior lamps are still conventional bulbs: front indicator takes a PY21W. The headlight itself is a sealed LED unit.

Are LED headlight bulbs legal in the Peugeot 2008?

The question does not really apply here. These LED headlamps are factory-fitted and type-approved as they are. The retrofit-LED rule that catches people out applies to cars sold with halogen headlamps, which this is not.

How we check fitment for this guide

We cross-reference fitment figures against manufacturer specifications and OE-supplier catalogue data where available, and matched to the standard codes that actually govern fit — battery type/group sizes, wiper lengths and fitting types, bulb fitment codes, tyre size markings, and oil specifications. We work by make, model, year, engine, and build date, because a single model can take different parts across its life. Where the right part depends on your exact vehicle, we tell you to confirm by registration or VIN. More on our method →
